Now that Riff is defunct, at least temporarily, I hope others adopt its slider method. Occasionally other things work better – it seems there are a number of algorithms out there. Sometimes nothing else works so well, and also quick and easy. Where Riffstation excelled was in the slider to isolate parts. Plus the ability to isolate a channel on a sliding scale, which sometimes helps find a sweet spot. Mouse the center slider to move 1 semitone at a time, or the little arrows on either side to adjust 1 cent per click.ĪSD also has some pretty good tools, loop with start/end and slider, 7 bands of eq & 3 algorithms for isolating a part – not necessarily the best, but among the best, imo.
ASD does have a very convenient pitch adjuster. After processing the file, you can play the song while seei. You can process the song through file upload (MP3/WAV) or by pasting YouTube / SoundCloud links. Personally, I find Amazing SD is easier to use than Riffst for everything other than track isolation, but I guess it’s a matter of what you’re used to. Answer (1 of 6): There is an online free tool (MazMazika Songs Chord Analyzer), which analyzes and detects the chords of any song very fast. The ‘Chord Viewer’ and ‘RiffBuilder’ modules of Riffstation are just what a specialist wouldlook for in such an application and they will also increase thevalue of this impressive piece of software.
I think I switched over to that free one eventually, and my version says 1.6.3.

Before discontinuing they emailed everyone who had bought it to let them know, changed the free version to the latest full version, and said to download the free version as the paid versions would no longer be supported. At least Riffstation or Fender did right by the customers though. Too bad, I was hoping they’d develop it further, maybe even give it two layers of isolation. If I remember correctly, Riffst was developed by some Irish guys, then Fender bought them out, and later discontinued it.

If that’s no longer possible maybe someone has the install file that can be emailed. It's an exciting time on the Irish music app front. If you really like Riffstation, see if you can still download the free version. That data, if Soundwave hits critical mass, could be used to decide where artists should book tour dates or it could be sold to music and marketing companies eager to target geographical locations.

The app also has an intriguing map-based feature – draw a circle around your neighbourhood and see what's popular and what the person down the road is listening to. Riff Maestro is the easiest way to study and learn how to play your favorite songs on guitar. It's a similar idea to This Is My Jam in that regard. Its stream of music listeners can be categorised by plays, ratings, shares and humdingers which are tracks chosen by users as their standout song of the moment. It's like Instagram for music or Last FM if it didn't stop innovating five years ago. Soundwave () is a free app that tracks the music you're listening to on your mobile devices via the music app, Spotify or Rdio and shares that activity with your friends. Last Friday, an Irish app which already has famous fans in Stephen Fry and Apple's Steve Wozniak officially launched for iOs and Android devices and has been riding high in the free app charts ever since. It's a must-have for the many guitar nerds out there and if their plans to process YouTube videos the same way works out, Riffstation's technology could be everywhere. You can isolate the guitar in the mix, slow it down or change the pitch. Drop an audio file into the program and it will calculate the chords and display them in real-time.

It was built by three Irish software developers who are also keen guitarists. Riffstation () is a Windows/Mac tool that shows you the guitar chords of any song you run through it. And now there's another bloom of Irish-made music programs making a din in the crowded space. Already in 2013, I've featured Irish-made apps like 45Sound, which improves fan concert videos with pristine audio recorded at the concert and WholeWorldBand, the collaborative A/V tool for musicians. Irish music app developers are really attempting to grab a piece of the pie this year.
